Harry's Wood

Harry's Wood
Harry's wood is a small wooded area on the left as you drive down Waldley Lane,
which was planted in memory of the grandson of villager Angela Hughes. All
villagers are welcome to visit and enjoy the wood. As it is maturing Angela would
very much appreciate some support in maintaining it, this is her message:-

Just to say a very big thank you to those of you who are willing to be Friends of Harry’s
Wood. The removal of the tree guards is not so far off completion and the trees really
have appreciated it. Some are now over 15ft in height, not bad as they were only whips
when set in 2014! The Wood was so fortunate to have had rain in its first year thus
helping in its establishment.

A very big thank you to Gordon Skipper for the hours and hours he
has devoted to bringing back the possibility of enjoying Harry’s Wood,
where the undergrowth had all grown above waist height and for his
renovation of the bench, now as new, which had suffered so badly
from Nature’s extremes. He has also made way, by working through
the jungle for anyone to enjoy the wildlife, whist sitting or to take a
walk up the middle or even around the whole field.
It appears to have been a year of growth as never before seen by
Harry’s Wood! So do please enjoy.
