February 2022

WI

The February meeting was held on the 21st at the Coronation Hall.
We were joined by Gaye Taylor from the Ridware WI group who gave a demonstration on paper crafting. We had great fun making a card and gift holders with an Easter theme.
After a short business meeting, members voted that a hand made green oak bench with brass plaque would be a suitable way to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
This will be made locally by The Wellies Project Somersal Herbert. Members were asked for suggestions on where it could be sited in the village.
Our next meeting will be held in the Coronation Hall on Monday 21st March, where our speaker will be from the Sudbury Gasworks restoration project.

Food waste collections paused
The permanent closure today of the privately owned Vital Earth reprocessing facility in Ashbourne means residents are asked for the next four weeks to mix food waste in their domestic waste containers. All food caddy collections are paused from tomorrow (1 March).
